FAQ Home Battery
- My home battery is making noise, is that right?
-
A home battery can produce noise. This is often a limited and low sound, but due to resonances, it can still bother you. For this reason, we often install the home battery in an enclosed, well-insulated area of the home.
- Is a dynamic energy contract interesting in combination with a home battery?
-
Yes, we control the home battery smartly based on hourly prices. Is the power price low? Then we cause the home battery to charge itself with energy from the grid. As soon as the power price is high, you can use the stored power or feed it back to the grid. In this way you can quickly earn 900 euros on an annual basis.
- What home batteries does FoR-E offer?
-
At FoR-E, we currently offer three variants, including housing and mounting hardware.
PowerWall - 3 to 14 kWh
Stackable - 3 to 30 kWh
Which battery best suits your situation depends on the capacity of the solar system and your current power consumption. Roughly speaking, for every 1,000 kWh of electricity consumption p/y, a storage capacity of 2 kWh is suitable. Suppose your annual electricity consumption is 3,000 kWh, a storage capacity of about 6 kWh would be sufficient. Because the home battery is modular, you can expand that storage capacity as needed in the future.
- Is there a subsidy on the home battery?
-
Currently, there is no subsidy on the home battery yet. This is largely due to the current energy climate. The Belgium - unlike the countries around us - is somewhat behind in the installation of home batteries. This has to do with the current balancing regime on solar panels. Because supplying power back to the energy grid is still very interesting, there is currently no urgency to install a home battery. However, we do expect a subsidy on the home battery in due course, and will keep you informed about this via the FoR-E website.
- Can I monitor the performance of my home battery?
-
Yes, you can. A wireless connection is possible between the Gateway and the battery when both devices are installed within 10 meters of each other. If both devices are further than 10 meters apart, we choose an utp connection. Using the CAT5e/6 Cable, communication is possible between the Gateway and the battery up to 50 meters. You have to arrange the CAT5e/6 cable for this yourself. You are most familiar with the home environment, and so can determine the ideal route for installing the cable.
- What do charge cycles of a home battery mean?
-
A charge cycle means the complete charging and discharging of a home battery. Our product warranty is 15 years or at least 20,000 charge cycles
- What is the payback period of the home battery?
-
There is currently no clear indication of home battery payback time. This is mainly due to the large number of factors on which the return and payback period is based. For example, to what extent are you working every day to use solar energy efficiently and feed it back to the grid optimally? The home battery is now mainly about less dependence on the energy grid and making more use of your own generated solar power.
